Microsoft Fix it

Post by morueix » Thu Apr 28, 2011 9:48 pm

Finally, Microsoft has published a list of tools (Mats_run.exe files) that help you automatically diagnose and repair common computer problems, and provide you with the next steps to take if your problems aren’t fixed.

I'm listing below the most interesting multimedia tools:

Diagnose and repair sound playback problems automatically:

Mats_Run.AudioPlayback.exe

Fix Windows Media Player video, and other media or library issues:

Your CD or DVD drive can't read or write media:

Fix Windows Media Player video, and other media or library issues:

Mats_Run.WinMediaPlayer.exe

Windows Photo and Slideshow Problems:

and... without details - however, its name suggests that may help to troubleshoot the audio recording issues:

Mats_Run.AudioRecording.exe

Microsoft has destroyed all of the Fixits, hoping to force you to upgrade to Windows 10 (trojan).

Now phishing criminals are publishing counterfeit Fixits!

That's about enough, I am giving all of my clients a discount on migrating to Ubuntu Gnome / Elementary / TrueOS / GhostBSD...

Is this really what's going on? That's some scary stuff. How do you tell what Fixits are a scam?
